Not only was it scary to have them fall around you but it made a real mess on our patio and with the dry weather I went to sleep worrying about the fire hazard of it. But there was a rooftop patio a few floors above ours and those guests were having a party - so we were pelted with lit cigarette butts flying off the roof all evening. We are smokers so it was nice to not have to take turns going all the way downstairs and outside (taking turns bc child asleep in room). The balcony we got was actually a big rooftop patio and that was really sweet. On our last stay we paid the extra cash to be bumped up to a suite so that my daughter could sleep in a separate area from us. The airline noise is a little much but that shouldn't be a huge surprise since you can see that the planes fly directly over top of the resort. We've stayed in both the resort side and the hotel side. But it does get you access to the pool (if you are using just the spa and not staying here) and the pool/water slide/hot tub is pretty nice.
The spa is nice but a little expensive considering all the additional perks you can find at some of the other Vancouver hotel spas. The casino is decent (for outside of Vegas). We have stayed here a few times just because it is conveniently close to the airport and obviously has more amenities than neighbouring hotels.
